7 Things I Learned after Focusing on My Gut Bacteria for 30 Days

Last month I promised you an update so here we go... After 30 days of following an immune-centric nutrition plan based on The Immunity Code book by Joel Greene, I have re-confirmed that if you really want to give yourself the best odds of preventing harmful pathogens from entering your body and you'd prefer to age as gracefully as possible, you should prioritize the maintenance of your immune system. And the way to do that is by self-cultivating the most impressive bacteria in your gut as possible. And, as usual, the key is nutrition. To feel, look, and perform your best on the outside, it's what's on the inside that truly matters most.

I also learned a few fun facts about myself and life in the process:

1) There is a limit to a man's desire to cook another egg white omelet and his ability to eat seemingly ridiculous amounts of raw cauliflower.

2) Salsa and feta cheese will make just about everything taste better. (Except cauliflower)

3) Cauliflower Rice is a good hack and alternative to eating raw cauliflower, but unless you load it up with butter and salt and try your best to make believe that it's rice, it still tastes like raw cauliflower.

4) Focusing on your gut bacteria for 30 days is much easier to do when your awesome wife is doing it at the same time and it's much more fun when she's laughing at your new phobia of raw cauliflower.

5) Focusing on your gut bacteria for 30 days is much harder when you live in a state where you can get really good pizza in almost every town you drive through.

6) Eating 4 grapefruits and 4 bananas in one day was one of the craziest things I've done in a long time. Apparently, I need to up my crazy game.

7) Even if you tell me I can use a certain whipped cream on some 'healthy' jello as a treat during the month because it's low calorie and low fat etc., I'll most likely use way more whipped cream than I should and will definitely enjoy it right out of the can. It's friggin' whipped cream for cryin' out loud! It's meant to be delicious, savored, and a little bit naughty.

(Fun Fact: January 5th is National Whipped Cream Day)

Seriously. Look it up.

You're welcome. :)

Cheers,
